German Advantage
When my brother arrived five minutes late for our banquet, our Uncle was already puckered brow. He became very authoritarian about being on the dot, and we all know that, since he and his family lived in Germany nine years ago. When asked if he was irritated he just leered and gave a "talk-about-it-later" sign. My brother and I look up at our Uncle like he is our own father since matriarch and patriarch divorced when we were young. Whenever our Uncle would come home for a short retreat, we never forget to give him the veneration that we would likely give to our own dad, only if he is around. Our Uncle is very particular with reference to being on time, and it means not five minutes early nor five minutes late, but correctly on time. Punctuality is a habit he loved about Germany and over the years he himself assimilated.
He told us that he decided to live in Germany and formed his business there because Germans are always on the dot when it comes to paying their bills. Also, time is gold for a entrepreneur like him so every minute is crucial. In addition, in every business conventions with Germans, he make sure that he would make a call if he knows that he cannot make it on time because even if his reason would be of family matters, it will undoubtedly create certain reaction from them.
